REST is the default for most public and business APIs because it is simple and widely supported. GraphQL fits complex front ends that need to fetch exactly the right data in one request, while gRPC is fastest for internal service-to-service communication. We often combine them, for example adding GraphQL as an aggregation layer in front of existing REST services.
How much does custom API development cost?
